Brainle (“we”, “us”) is a free daily brain-teaser game. This policy explains what we collect, why, and who we share it with. We keep it short and try to collect as little as possible.
Information we collect
- Account basics. A display name and avatar you choose. By default your account is anonymous, identified only by a randomly-generated ID.
- If you link an account. If you save your progress with email or Google sign-in, we store your email address (and, for Google, the basic profile info Google returns) so you can sign in on another device.
- Gameplay. Your puzzle results — scores, completion times, dates, and which puzzles you played — plus your streak and stats.
- On your device. We use your browser’s local storage (not advertising cookies) to keep you signed in and to remember your play history and preferences.
- Technical logs. Our hosting and backend providers process standard technical data (such as IP address and browser type) to serve and secure the site.
How we use it
- Run the game, generate the daily puzzle, and save your results.
- Show leaderboards and your rank, streak, and stats.
- Keep you signed in and let you recover your account across devices.
- Keep the game working, fair, and secure (e.g. preventing abuse).
We do not sell your personal data, and we don’t run advertising or third-party analytics.
Your leaderboard is public
Your display name, avatar, and scores are visible to other players on the leaderboard. Please don’t put personal information in your display name.
Who we share data with
We rely on a few service providers to run Brainle:
- Supabase — authentication and database (stores your account and results).
- Cloudflare — website hosting and content delivery.
- Google — only if you choose “Sign in with Google” (handles that sign-in).
- Google Fonts — serves the site’s fonts; your browser’s request includes your IP address.
- Datamuse — for the Anagram puzzle, the word you guess is sent to the Datamuse dictionary API to check it’s a real word. Your identity is not sent.
Data retention
We keep your account and results while your account exists. Ask us (below) and we’ll delete your account and associated data.
Your choices & rights
- Change your display name or avatar any time in your profile.
- Play as an anonymous guest without linking an email.
- Request access to, correction of, or deletion of your data by emailing us.
- Depending on where you live (e.g. the EU/UK, California, Australia), you may have additional rights over your personal information.
Children
Brainle isn’t directed to children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their personal information.
Changes
We may update this policy; we’ll change the “last updated” date above when we do.
